Nearly 200 years since it was made, this bonnet would have been intended to be worn when outside the home by a working woman. It is made of cardboard for internal structure, black silky satin and lined in cream satin, with draw cords to pull the crown cap tighter around the head. Features a wide cream satin ribbon to tie securely under the chin. The wide brim was fashionable during the period and a sign of Queen Victoria’s ascension to the throne in 1937.

Condition: Very good, hardly signs of any wear except staining to the ribbon ties as shown, this is a fragile item due to age.
