Nearly 200 years since it was made, this bonnet would have been intended to be worn when outside the home by a working Quaker woman. It is made of cardboard for internal structure, grey silky satin and lined in cream satin, with draw cords to pull the crown cap tighter around the head. Features a wide cream satin ribbon to tie securely under the chin. The wide brim was fashionable during the period and a sign of Queen Victoria’s ascension to the throne in 1837.
